Government signs deal to improve agric financing

The government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FAUREE Link Limited to develop a new digital platform aimed at improving access to agricultural financing in the country.

The agreement, signed by the Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness (PIAA), Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, is part of a broader strategy to modernise agriculture and enhance agribusiness through innovative financial tools.

Under the partnership, FAUREE will design, deploy, operate, and maintain the Dobidi Agro-Input Credit and Farmer Financing Platform (DACFIP).

The platform is expected to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end digital infrastructure that connects farmers to affordable finance, input suppliers, aggregators, offtakers, and financial institutions.

“This collaboration is not just about technology; it’s about unlocking opportunities for agricultural financing. We are leveraging this innovation to enable efficient, transparent, and inclusive access to finance across the agricultural value chain,” Dr Otokunor stated.

According to the government, the platform will incorporate features such as identity verification, transaction monitoring, and seamless integration with key stakeholders—making it a critical tool for driving financial inclusion in agriculture.

Dr Otokunor also commended FAUREE for its technical expertise and commitment to the shared vision, emphasising the importance of building a system that delivers real-life impact for farmers.

“As we move forward, we do so with the determination to build a stronger agricultural future, one where farmers are empowered, value chains are integrated, and the promise of inclusive agribusiness is fully realised,” he added.
