Officials from the GRA accompanied by armed police personnel stormed one of the capital city's suburb of Abeka Lapaz on Thursday night and closed down a number of drinking spots for non payment of tax.

Popular spots such as Mambo located at Nyamekye junction in Lapaz and a host of smaller drinking joints were closed down and patrons asked to leave.

The tax officers locked up the spots with the commissioner's seal and warned the owners not to attempt to re-open until they have honoured their tax obligations.

An eyewitness told Graphic Online he was at the Mambo spot at about 10:30pm when the officers visited, asked patrons to leave and locked up the place.
