Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) will work to institute measures to ensure the welfare of its stakeholders, its board chairman, Professor Kwame Omane-Antwi, has said.

He stated that the board would work to ensure that the lives of its vendors and agents (who are key stakeholders in the marketing and sale of newspapers) were improved.

At a meeting with vendors and agents of the company in Cape Coast on Thursday, Prof. Omane-Antwi emphasised the need for them to work harder to improve the sales of the company.

He noted that despite the downward trend in newspaper marketing and sales the world over, a little more effort to promote and sell the paper would ensure a smooth transition into other forms of media.

He urged the vendors and agents to take advantage of the company’s scholarships awards, as they were motivational interventions to encourage them to sell more.

Pay debts

He urged them to impress on those who were indebted to the company to pay their debts to make the company viable.

The Managing Director of the GCGL, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey, said the company had over the years worked to ensure that shortages in supplies were reduced to the barest minimum.

He explained that the newspaper industry was facing a lot of challenges that had adversely affected the cost of production and patronage.

The vendors appealed for improved delivery times and branding of sales points.

The delegation had earlier met with staff of the company and urged them to work harder to improve sales.
