The court, presided over by Mr Justice Patrick Baayeh, ordered the Inspector General of Police to apprehend the minister and cause him to appear before the court on April 15, 2016.

Dr Agyemang  Mensah is said to have refused to appear before the court to respond to a suit against him in connection with some destruction caused in the execution of the Ada Sea Defence project.

He is to appear before the court with his Director, Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu, and Director of Hydrological Services, Mr Owusu Ansah.

The plaintiffs in the case, Messrs Zikpuitor Fenu Benjamin Atsu and Marshall Koblah Fenu, say the respondents, acting as supervisors of the Ada Sea Defence project, failed to prevent their land and property from destruction.

According to the plaintiffs, the contractor, Dredging International Company of The Netherlands, also caused irreparable damage to the environment.

The sea defence project, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year, will reclaim about 14 kilometres of coastal bed lost along the Atlantic Ocean in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region.
