In a bid to sharpen its policy direction and deepen stakeholder engagement, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA) has inaugurated its Ministerial Advisory Board, bringing together a diverse mix of professionals and institutional representatives tasked with steering the sector forward.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Accra on July 22, 2025, was presided over by the Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who underlined the legal basis for the board’s establishment under Sections 39 and 40 of the Civil Service Act, 1993 (Act 327). She said the board would play a crucial role in ensuring the Ministry’s decisions and strategies are aligned with sound policy and legal frameworks.

“Our Ministry oversees 13 agencies, and we must ensure decisions are rooted in legal frameworks to move forward with unity and purpose,” Gomashie said.

She lauded the range of expertise brought together by the board and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to inclusive and collaborative governance. The Minister further revealed key appointments as part of an internal restructuring aimed at strengthening leadership across the Ministry. Mr. Divine Owusu Ansah has been appointed Director for Culture, while Dr. Tamakloe takes over as Director for Tourism. A Director for Creative Arts, she noted, would be named shortly.

The Chief Director of the Ministry, Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah, who officially opened the event, acknowledged the delay in the board’s formation but expressed optimism that the Ministry was now poised to accelerate its mandate.

“The absence of the board meant we were missing out on critical guidance,” he said. “We are grateful for your commitment, and we are ready to work together.”

He attributed the delay to logistical and administrative challenges, but said these had now been addressed, paving the way for more coordinated leadership.

The inauguration was capped by the formal administration of the oath of office by Hon. Gomashie, who expressed confidence in the board’s capacity to shape the national tourism, culture, and creative arts agenda with impact.

The newly inaugurated Advisory Board comprises the following members:

- Yussif Issaka Jajah – Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts

- Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah – Chief Director, MoTCCA

- Comfort Aki Dede Ashiagbor – Ministry of Education

- Mr. Noah Tumfo – Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry

- Mr. Richard Gyasi – Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development

- Mr. Kwasi Adu – Ministry of Finance

- Mr. Ahuma Bosco Ocansey – Ghana Culture Forum

- Dr. Kwasi Eyison – Ghana Tourism Federation

- Naa Juyoo Oshedu Woblor Jueteer Tsofayelor – Cultural advocate and queen mother

The Ministry says it expects the board to provide strategic counsel to drive growth in Ghana’s tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors, ensuring they contribute meaningfully to national development.
