The equipment included 15 sewing machines, five standing hair dryers, 10 welding machines, 10 gari processing machines, one oil extraction machine and six cocoa spraying machines.

It is to assist the beneficiaries to set up their own businesses after being taken through entrepreneurial training under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) programme.

The gari processing machines were presented to individuals who have organised themselves into groups to engage in commercial production of gari, whereas the cocoa spraying machines were given to six communities to help in the spraying of cocoa farms.

Handing over

At a ceremony to hand over the equipment to the beneficiaries, Mrs Nkrumah Aboah said the gesture was a major intervention to assist newly trained artisans to establish their respective trades.

She noted that her priority was not just the provision of infrastructural facilities, but also the human development of the people in the area to improve their standard of living.

According to the MP, she would not relent in her efforts to improve the human resource in the constituency, and asked the beneficiaries to put the equipment to good use to train more of the youth.

She cautioned them against selling the equipment since such an act would defeat the objective behind the provision of the equipment.

DCE

The District Chief Executive for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mr Samuel Adom Botchway, commended the MP for her resolve to equip the youth to reduce unemployment in the district.

He appealed to the beneficiaries to take good care of the equipment to sustain their businesses.
