Multi-Credit assists fire victims
Multi-Credit Savings and Loans has presented GH¢30,000 to clients of the company who were victims of the fire outbreak at the Kumasi Central Market in July.
The 125 customers would each receive between GH¢300 and GH¢1000. However, the company says six other customers who were also victims of the fire disaster but owed the bank some money would have their debts either reduced or written off, depending on the amount involved.

The Head of Sales and Marketing of the Multi-Credit Savings and Loans Company, Mrs Jane Marshall Amissah, who briefed the Daily Graphic after the presentation ceremony, said because the bank thrived on the viability of the businesses of its clients, it had a responsibility to ensure that they were assisted in the event of a disaster.
On July 17, 2014, fire at the Central Market destroyed shops, stalls and goods worth several thousands of Ghana cedis.
The disaster occurred at the Subinso portion of Kejetia, in the section for second -hand clothes dealers. The fire razed hundreds of shops, about the size of four football fields.
Mrs Jane Amissah said the company, which has been in existence for the past 15 years, was satisfied with customers who had successfully repaid their loans on schedule following technical assistance the bank had offered them to help manage their businesses.
She also said the close relationship between the company and its customers was what had encouraged it to assist those who were adversely affected by the fire outbreak.
Madam Serwaa Antwi, a second-hand clothes seller who lost all her merchandise, stated, “I am in a trance. I did not ever think that Multi-Credit would come to my aid to enable me restart my business.”
