New Birth Assembly International celebrates 50th anniversary
The New Birth Assembly International (NBAI) a Christ-centered and mission-driven church has held its annual convention at Logba Alakpiti in the Afadjato South District of the Volta Region.
The convention coincided with their 50th anniversary of the church.
It was all joy when the congregation sang songs of praise and danced to glorify God for the New Year.
The Church was established at Logba Alakpiti in 1975 by Bishop Emmanuel Mathias Abudzo.
Along the line, the NBAI merged with the Wings of Salvation led by Chief Apostle Gotfried Komla Gawu.
With the merger, Bishop Abudzo became the leader with Chief Apostle Gawu as the deputy. Their leadership roles have continued till date.
As of now, the church after the merger has 22 branches in Ghana and beyond with a membership of 1,200.
The leader, Bishop Abudzo who was born in 1933 is now 101 years old whilst Chief Apostle Gawu is 95.
Reading the history of the church at the anniversary, Apostle Fidelis Doh said the NBAI began as a prayer fellowship with about 20 members but with the founders hunger to win souls, the church held various conventional meetings that have culminated in its establishment today.
He said the church aimed to reach out to all nations on the earth.
Preaching the sermon on the theme, 50 Years of Fruitfulness through Christ the true vine, Bishop-General Joseph Lebene Gbordzoe said God created human beings on earth to be fruitful.
He said that “we can only be fruitful if we go according to the directions of Jesus Christ”.
He noted that we can be fruitful if we combine prayers with actions.
“You can not be fruitful if you spend the whole day in church praying without working”, he said.
Bishop-General Gbordzoe urged the youth to seek knowledge and lead exemplary lives since they are the future leaders of the country.
The church has contributed to society by giving scholarships to brilliant and needy students and providing skilled training to the youth.
They have also contributed to the victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage, constructed bore holes, and established a Bible School at Ho for theological and pastoral leadership training.
The National Youth President of NBAI, Reverend Godwin Hallo cautioned the youth against the use of hard drugs that could derail all their plans for the future.
