When completed the building will provide a chamber for the judge, two offices for court clerks, a registrar’s office and a court-room, among other facilities.

The assembly is also constructing a two-kilometre road leading to the court complex to ensure that people get easy access to the place.

The projects are being undertaken with funds from the Urban Development Grants (UDG).

Judge

The Chief Executive of the assembly, Richard Ofori Agyemang-Boadi, said the Chief Justice had already assured the assembly of posting a judge to the court as soon as it was ready.

He said the complex would be ready by March 2016 and expressed the hope that it would greatly help in deepening the rule of law and expedite the trial of cases.

Currently most of the cases that have to be heard by higher courts are sent to Kumasi where there are high courts.

Mr Agyemang-Boadi said the assembly had already secured accommodation for the judge who would be transferred to Obuasi.

Already the assembly has built district and circuit courts at New Nyamebekyere close to where the new high court is being constructed.
