New scholarships to be processed online
The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Mr Kingsley Agyemang, has announced that new applications for scholarship will from May this year be processed online.
He said applicants would no longer have to apply in writing to the secretariat.
He explained that applicants would instead have to register online, provide information on academic transcripts, biodata and any other relevant information and generate a unique number during the online process.

Process
Mr Agyemang, who was speaking to reporters at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region, added that applicants would have to take an online aptitude test as part of the process to qualify for a scholarship.
“There is also what we call the scholarship number. With this number, because the word is scholarship and we want to increase transparency and meritocracy, you go through an online aptitude test.
“As soon as your online application is successful, you will receive an SMS or email saying your application is successful and that you have been processed to the next stage which is the aptitude test stage,” he added.
Aptitude test
Mr Agyemang said as soon as an applicant passed the aptitude test, he would be notified to proceed to the district he selected when processing the application to appear before the District Scholarship Review Committee.
He said the secretariat initially had just one computer and a printer, adding that the state of affairs at the secretariat under President Nana Add0 Dankwa Akufo-Addo had improved.
“By the kind courtesy of the President, a lot of interventions have come in. Now each office has a computer and a printer, and the President last year introduced what we call decentralisation of scholarship where all students, irrespective of their background, have funding to study,” he explained.
