Leading Models project is aimed at mentoring, coaching and grooming young ladies between the ages of 18 and 35 to become entrepreneurs and     self-sufficient.

The launch brought together over 100 women and seasoned entrepreneurs in support of the project.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic after the launch, the President of DIF, Nana Adjoa A. Sifa, mentioned that the project was inspired by her desire to help marginalised women to realise their dreams by breaking barriers hindering their progress.

She said even though many women aspired to attain greater heights, they were restricted due to funding, limited opportunities and accessibility.

“Women, irrespective of their qualification and educational level are all qualified to participate in the project as they are grouped differently based on their standards under the project,” she added.

Mr Charles Sam, the CEO of Golden Future Promotions, advised the women to start businesses in their backyard and nurture them to attain success instead of depending on opportunities, which might never come.

He explained that in starting a business, the owner must know the basic rules of respecting the ideas and complaints of customers and being presentable.

The two-year old foundation, which aspires to train about 100 women entrepreneurs in every region in the next five years, has already begun a ‘Pupils Academy’ in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region.

The academy focuses on improving education in the  rural areas of Ghana by making a direct impact in the lives of the schoolchildren.

DIF will remain in the district for four years to ensure sustainability of the project before extending to other districts.

With a core staff of five, the DIF is generally sustained on funding from donors.
