Northern Regional Minister urges Saboba residents to uphold peace for development

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Ali Adolf John, has called on the chiefs and people of Saboba and its surrounding communities to embrace peace and unity, stressing that they are essential pillars for sustainable development.

According to the Minister, peace and coexistence are critical to ensuring that government interventions in infrastructure and economic development yield tangible results for the people.

“Without peace, no meaningful development can occur,” he emphasized. “Let us work together to ensure harmony, so the government’s efforts to improve lives through infrastructure and economic initiatives can bear fruit.”

The Minister made these remarks when the Paramount Chief of Saboba, Ubor Mateer John Bowan Sakojim IV, accompanied by his sub-chiefs and the District Chief Executive of Saboba, paid a courtesy call on him at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council in Tamale on Thursday, June 26, 2025. The visit was to formally congratulate him on his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama and to discuss key development concerns in the district.

The visit underscored the strong collaboration between traditional authorities and the government in pursuing shared goals of peace, poverty reduction, and education.

Mr. Ali Adolf expressed deep appreciation for the visit, describing it as a gesture of goodwill and unity. He used the occasion to encourage the people of Saboba to prioritize education, describing it as the engine of transformation.

“Education is key,” the Minister stated. “If we want to lift our people out of poverty and prepare them for future opportunities, we must invest in and take education seriously.”

He also assured the delegation that the government is committed to initiating and completing more development projects in the district. The Minister noted that such projects would create jobs, improve livelihoods, and provide better access to essential services when completed.

In his remarks, Paramount Chief Ubor Mateer John Bowan Sakojim IV thanked President Mahama for the appointment of Mr. Ali Adolf John and commended the government for ongoing development projects in Saboba, particularly the construction of the Wapuli Bridge, which he said would significantly enhance connectivity and economic activity in the district.

The chief, however, appealed for the establishment of a tertiary institution—such as a college of education—in Saboba, stating that it would not only boost education but also stimulate socio-economic growth.

“Bringing tertiary education closer to our people will not only enhance access but also help retain our youth and create new economic opportunities,” he said.

Ubor Sakojim IV further advised the Regional Minister to exhibit patience and tolerance in his leadership, noting that such qualities are essential in addressing the diverse needs of communities across the region.

He pledged the full support of the traditional authority for the Regional Minister and the government’s development agenda, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace and fostering unity in Saboba.

Both leaders expressed optimism about the district's future and affirmed their shared commitment to building a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Saboba.
