Health professionals who supervised the exercise took the beneficiaries through good health practices, such as exclusive breastfeeding, how to prevent malaria, family planning, and how to respond to breast lumps and treat ear infections.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Online, the President-elect of Rotary Club of Accra-Labone, Mr P.E. Yaw Abrokwa, said the three-day annual free health services and distribution of health products was key to helping the vulnerable in the society to improve their health status.
He said similar exercises were being carried out across 50 selected sites in the country, where over 50,000 people are expected to benefit.
He said those screened with severe conditions are referred to health facilities for further examination and treatment.

Mr Abrokwa said the community was selected as a result of a needs assessment Rotary carried out in consultation with the GHS.
He therefore advised inhabitants of the area to take advantage of the programme to check their health status, adding that early detection of ailment could help one to take the necessary steps to cure or treat it.
“If anybody has the means, it is medically right to check your health status periodically,” he advised the public.
He said the Rotary Club of Accra-Labone would continue to embark on projects that contribute to the development of the wellbeing of the underprivileged communities and vulnerable people in society.
