The complex, built at the cost of GH₵4,700,000, is to be used for the administration of the credit union.

Christened, “CAGECCU Towers”, the edifice has banking halls, conference rooms, a strongroom, a restaurant, and a lift.

The construction, fully funded by the union, began in July 2012 and was completed in September 2015.

Commendation

Inaugurating the edifice, the Controller and Accountant-General, Mrs Grace Adzroe, commended the executive of the union for its hard work and selfless service which had enabled them to put up the structure.

She entreated them to stick to the maintenance plan for the edifice and provide adequate security for it.

Utilise finances judiciously

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Baba Jamal, commended the union for utilising its finances judiciously.

“Being able to put up this edifice means you were able to manage your interest on loans and returns on investments. This signifies that with honesty, accountability and transparency, a lot can be achieved,” he stated.

In order to sustain the union and attract new clients, he urged the union to be flexible when granting loans and encouraged non-members of CAGECCU to join it, adding “you must be vigilant and strict in retrieving the benefits that come with it.”

Mr Jamal implored other organisations to emulate the CAGECCU’s initiative to avoid falling prey to unscrupulous  microfinance institutions.
