Spearheaded by Dalex Finance and Leasing Company Limited, the campaign, dubbed “One Ghana United Against Ebola”, is designed to inspire in the public the desire to seek information on the disease and spread same to others.

It will involve strategies to mobilise, educate and empower Ghanaians on a sustainable Ebola prevention programme.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dalex Finance, Mr Kenneth Kwamina Thompson, who launched the initiative, said, “One Ghana is not just a phrase but also a strong statement signalling our resolve to rise up as one nation with a singular determination to fight this deadly epidemic.”

He urged Ghanaians to come together to fight the Ebola disease as a nation, adding, “As a nation, there are certain issues that we should come together and address as one people and the Ebola virus disease (EVD) is one of them.”

Ebola Education Fund

Mr Thompson urged individuals and corporate institutions to contribute to the Ebola Education Fund launched recently, as they were all stakeholders in the fight against Ebola.

He explained that the initiative was a proactive nationwide educational campaign which would be a valuable tool to prevent a spread of the disease to the country.

The Ebola Education Fund is targeted at raising an initial amount of GHc1 million to fund the educational campaign.

Social mobilisation

A representative of the Ministry of Health, Dr Emmanuel Dzotsi, stressed the importance of social mobilisation in the country’s efforts to ward off Ebola.

He emphasised the need to ensure that every individual, home or community heard about Ebola and how to prevent it.

Dr Dzotsi encouraged the public to learn more about the disease, know the signs and symptoms and ways of preventing it and spread the word to others.
