PADAA honours 28 personalities
The Association of Independent Broadcasters and Journalists in Africa has honoured 28 people for their contributions and service to the nation and interest in developing communities in West Africa.
This was at the Second Pan-African Distinguished Achievers Award (PADAA) ceremony held at the Ell King Hotel in Accra.
Awardees
The Chief Executive Officer of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) in Nigeria, Alhaji Idris Mohammed, took home the most prestigious award. Other award winners were Mr David O. Ukweku, the CEO of Ohwes Limited; Mr Patrick Dwamena, the CEO of JQ Industries Ghana Limited, and Prince Emmanuel Okeson, the CEO of City Lights Limited.
The rest include: Dr A.G. Haruna, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Kaduna State; Dr Shemu Umar Minijibir, Head of Service, Kano State and Alhaji Ahmadu Inuwa, Executive Director, Manyalta Engineering Services Limited, Abuja, all of Nigeria; Dr Christopher Obareki, CEO of Baki Farms Limited, Accra and Supt. Samuel Tibil Punobyin, Kasoa District Commander of the Ghana Police Service.
Chairman’s remark
The Chairman of PADAA, Mr Boniface Abraham, said any country or continent that did not honour its achievers was not worth dying for. He also said PADAA had the objective of honouring Pan-African pathfinders.
"PADAA is a concept that encourages solidarity among Africans worldwide. It is aimed at promoting and encouraging innovation, selfless devotion to national service, integrity and development," he said.
