Police ready for labour demonstrations

The Ghana Police Service says it has finalised arrangements to police the nationwide demonstrations by Organized Labour scheduled for Thursday July 24.

A statement by the Police assured the public that “the necessary preparation, within the constraints earlier communicated, have been made to ensure law and order, for the citizenry to go about their daily economic and social activities without let or hindrance.”

The Police appealed to organizers of the demonstrations to manage and control their membership to ensure the events are conducted in a peaceful manner, in conformity with the Public Order Act 491/94.

The statement, signed by the Director General of Police Public Affairs Department, DCOP Rev. David N. Ampah-Bennin, reminded the public to reach the Police on their emergency numbers; MTN and Vodafone - 18555 and all networks – 191 with information that will help to ensure peaceful events.
