Power from AMERI project to delay following hitch in civil works

Commissioning of an additional 250 megawatts (MW) of power onto the national grid from the AMERI Power Project at the Aboadze enclave has suffered a temporary setback as civil works on the compacted platform for the plants are yet to be completed.

The project was expected to be on board by September, but the contractor has run out of the type of boulders needed for the remaining part of the civil works, resulting in the extension of time for completion.

A source close to the contractors indicated their commitment to complete the project on schedule, but said they would have to go a little beyond the scheduled date.

It said haulage of boulders would soon commence from a new location that had been found for the work to be completed.

It said owing to the change in the location of boulders, the September deadline would not be met.
