President Akufo-Addo meets Organised Labour on illegal mining

The Ministry of Information has announced that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday held discussions with leaders of Organised Labour in relation to matters on illegal mining [galamsey].
Organised Labour has declared a nationwide strike beginning October 10 as part of a campaign asking government to declare a state of emergency and ban all forms of small scale mining.

In a press statement, the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar said the government was committed to engaging all relevant stakeholders in its efforts to promote sustainable mining and environmental protection.
