Admittedly, Ebola hemorrhagic fever (to give it its proper name) is very scary indeed: It has a death rate of up to 90 per cent, and it does horrible things to the human body and the myths that have come up since its discovery are scarier than the disease.

• Wear protective gear before you touch sick people who show symptoms of Ebola including  fever, diarrhoea, vomiting, headaches and sometimes heavy bleeding.

 • Do not touch the dead bodies of suspected or confirmed Ebola patients.

• Wash your hands with soap and running water regularly.
