Retired banker installed chief at Kumawu

A retired banker, Godfred Ernest Amoah, has been installed the Dumakwaahene of the Kumawu Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region.

With the stool name Nana Yaw Amoah Kwarteng, the new chief was until his retirement the Deputy Managing Director of Prudential Bank Ltd.

 

He also worked with the Ghana Commercial Bank in Ghana and the United Kingdom.

His role as the Dumakwaahene is to oversee and manage lands and mineral resources under the Kumawu Traditional Area for socio-economic development.

The ceremony also witnessed the installation of Nana Yaw Nyarko, a professor in Economics at the New York University, as the Aboafohene of the area, as well as four other sub-chiefs.

The Paramount Chief of the Kumawu Traditional Area, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Koduah, advised the new chiefs to use their individual experiences and expertise in their various fields for the development of the area.

He asked them to uphold the truth and work together with the people which he believed would go a long way to bring development to the community.

Also present at the ceremony which coincided with the Kumawuhene’s first anniversary, were the Queenmother of Kumawu, Nana Serwaa Amponsah; the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Ms Elisabeth Ofosu-Adjare and the Ashanti Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourist Authority (GTA), Mr Ekow Sampson.
