Sasso chairman receives General Merchant Entrepreneur award
The Executive Chairman of Samara Group of Companies, Dr Sampson Effah Apraku, was awarded the General Merchant Entrepreneur of the year 2016 at the Ghana Entrepreneur Awards held in Accra.

The award was to acknowledge Dr Apraku for demonstrating entrepreneurial achievement, vision, innovation and growth in the export and import industry.
Dr Apraku’s vision to reduce malaria-related death in Ghana by producing an effective insecticide brand which would have no adverse effect on consumers is gradually being achieved, making Sasso the number one insecticide brand on the Ghanaian market.
Other awards
The General Merchant Entrepreneur Award adds to ‘The Overall Achiever of the Year 2015 Award” the“Noble International Award”already won by the Sasso Executive chairman; and an honorary doctorate degree conferred on him by the Commonwealth University in the United Kingdom.
His company, Samara Group, which was founded about a decade ago, has received both national and international acknowledgements.
In 2015, it won the Head of State Fastest Growing Company award. In the same year, Samara Group was adjudged the Best Group and Best Insecticide Brand at the West Africa Regional Magazine Awards held in Nigeria.
In 2014, it was adjudged Top Emerging Brand and Fastest Growing Brand by Premier Brand Ghana.
Big honour
Sharing his sentiments on the General Merchant Entrepreneur Award, Dr Apraku said he less expected the award, and so it was a big honour to him.

The award, he said, confirmed his efforts, hard work and contribution towards the growth of the private sector.
“I am honoured to receive this award. It is already motivating me to continue putting more effort into the development of the private sector and the development of Ghana’s economy as a whole. I won’t relent in providing the best insecticide brand for my people [Ghanaians]”, Dr Apraku said.
Currently with an appreciable number of employees nationwide, Dr Apraku says he is getting ready to enter the markets of some neighbouring West African countries, including Nigeria and Ivory Coast.
