SMOGA’ 74 visits Abigail Denkyi at Korle Bu

Members of the 1974 Year Group of the St Mary's Old Girls Association (SMOGA’ 74) have paid a visit to Abigail Denkyi, a student of the school who is suffering from a kidney illness and currently on dialysis treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The President of the association, Madam Comfort Dela Agbenyeke, who led the group, said its attention was drawn to a publication in the Daily Graphic, March 17, 2015 edition, which highlighted Abigail's medical condition, barely two weeks after SMOGA 1974 was formed..

Members of the group, most of whom have retired from active public and private work, were touched by Abigail's plight and decided to make voluntary contributions to assist her.

At Korle Bu, the group interacted with some of Abigail’s family members and doctors attending to her and made a donation towards medical bills.

These include charges for Abigail's stay at the National Cardiothoracic Centre for a few days, laboratory tests and medication totalling about GH¢1,500.

The SMOGA’ 74 members prayed for Abigail’s' healing and wished her well. The group also said it would continue to contribute its widow's mite towards Abigail's recovery.
