The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has held an Editors’ Forum with journalists on the theme “Parliament and the Media: Strengthening Trust through Transparency, Accountability, and Accessibility.”
The engagement brought together journalists and other media professionals to help deepen cooperation and enhance the media’s understanding of parliamentary work.
In his address, Speaker Bagbin commended the media for its contribution to national development and to his own public service journey.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s Parliament as one of the most open and accessible legislatures on the African continent, attributing this achievement in part to the media’s active role.

He also underscored the importance of the Standing Orders in guiding parliamentary proceedings and emphasized the need to advance efforts toward a paperless Parliament.
The Speaker further outlined the establishment of the Public Relations cluster comprising the Media Relations, Public Engagement, Broadcasting and the Visitors Centre, designed to promote transparency, accessibility, and stronger collaboration with the media.
Deliberations also focused on matters affecting the media landscape, including journalists' remuneration, responsible reporting to sustain peace and stability, and the timely release of committee reports.

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, and the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, both highlighted the need for sustained media Parliament engagement and the expansion of coverage to committee activities.
The Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, together with his Deputies and Directors of the Parliamentary Service, were also in attendance to support the discussions.
