The teacher, identified as Francis Jude Kwamena Aboagye, aka Grand Father, is said to have been beheaded, while his tongue, genitals, arms and legs were severed.

The 44-year-old graduate teacher was declared missing about two months ago but his decomposed body was found in a bush at Kpando-Agudzi.

Ritual purposes

Some residents believe the teacher had been killed for ritual purposes, but the Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Antwi Gyawu, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, said it was too early to arrive at such a conclusion.

According to him, the police received information last Saturday about the murder and went to the scene to find the body in a decomposed state.

He said although the state of the body made it difficult for easy identification, two family members had since identified the body.

The commander said a team of experts had been tasked to conduct further investigations into the matter.

Teachers shocked

Mr Aboagye’s death came as a shock to the school authorities and the students when they were informed about it last Tuesday.

According to the Assistant Headmaster, Mr Paul Kwami Dorgbetor, the teacher had been absent from duty since February this year.

“When we followed up to his home, we were informed that his whereabouts were unknown,” he said.

He described Mr Aboagye as a reserved person who was dedicated to his work.

Call for investigation

A relative of Mr Aboagye, Madam Naomi Kwao, said the teacher, the only child of his mother’s, left home for a funeral on February 6, 2015, after visiting his mother at Kpando-Tsakpe, and never returned.

The mother, Madam Esther Kwao, 64, is said to have been devastated by news of her son’s death and called on the police to do their best to bring the perpetrators to book.

Before he was transferred to TASH three years ago, Mr Aboagye was an Economics teacher at the Dodi Papase Senior High School in the Kadjebi District.

He is an old student of the Bishop Herman College at Kpando.
