Technicians urged to use genuine spare parts to curb road accidents
Silver Star Auto Limited (SSAL) has taken independent Mercedes Benz garage owners and their technicians through an expert training course on the need to use genuine spare parts to service vehicles of their clients.

The workshop, which was held in Kumasi aimed also at guiding the technicians to identify genuine Mercedes-Benz spare parts from the proliferation of non-genuine ones on the market and the proper way of fixing the spare parts.
A team of Silver Star Auto officials, led by Mr Abdul Rahman Agha, Parts Manager facilitated the workshop. In his presentation
Mr Agha noted that the workshop was to deepen the skills of technicians to enable them to service their customers better using genuine spare parts and to win their trust and confidence.
Authorised distributor
Mr Agha disclosed that SSAL, being the authorised distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Ghana, had the capacity to stock a wide range of genuine servicing parts, observing that Mercedes-Benz parts were manufactured with precision and longevity in mind.
In an address, the Ashanti Regional Manager, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr Simon S. Gborbidzi, commended the company for organising the workshop. He expressed the hope that the workshop would enhance road safety, explaining that with the use of genuine spare parts the tendency of having vehicle breakdown that caused road accidents could be minimised.
Regular maintenance
He urged vehicle owners to invest in regular maintenance and servicing of their vehicles and reminded technicians on their role to insist on the use of genuine spare parts for the safety of vehicle owners and that of other road users.
Speaking from the perspective of the customer, Mr Kofi Appiah Koranteng, Registrar, School of Medical Sciences, KNUST, who has been using Mercedes-Benz vehicles for decades, attested to the fact that when one used genuine spare parts for servicing Mercedes-Benz vehicles the vehicle could last more years.
