Tullow assists Korle Bu with $96,000

Tullow Ghana Limited has presented medical equipment which removes gall stones to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. The $96,000 endourological equipment will be used by surgeons to remove kidney stones  and treat patients with difficulty in passing urine, without surgery and as well as treat other urinary related health problems.

Patients with kidney stones had to be operated upon in the absence of the endourological equipment.

The acting Chief Executive Officer of the KBTH, Rev. Albert Botchway, who received the equipment from the Chief of Staff of Tullow Ghana Limited, Mr Kofi Esson, commended the company for its support to the hospital.  

He said investment in the provision of modern equipment at the hospital would motivate the health practitioners to provide the quality health delivery needed by the public.

He, therefore, entreated stakeholders and individuals in the country to emulate the kind gesture shown by the Tullow Ghana Limited to help save the lives of the people in the country.

In presenting the items, Mr Esson said Tullow Ghana saw it as part of its social responsibility to support quality medicare in the country.

The Head of the Urology Unit of the hospital, Dr James Edward Mensah, stressed the need for Ghanaians to take in a lot of water to address the problem of kidney stones.
