Two cops nabbed transporting hemp

Two policemen and a Nigerian have been nabbed by the Volta Regional Police Command for allegedly attempting to transport a large quantity of Indian hemp in a police van to Togo.

The suspects were arrested on Saturday dawn around 2:30am at a police check-point at Sokode-Lokoe near Ho after the police had a tip-off that they were trying to smuggle the substance to Togo.

The compressed leaves were packed in the Nissan Navara police pick-up and the suspects were on their way to Aflao from Have when they were arrested.

 

Their Identities 

The two police men have been identified as Lance Corporal Fraizer, the one who was in charge of the vehicle and Sergeant Prosper Ametepe. 

According to sources L/C Fraizer is a police driver stationed at the police training school in Ho while Sergeant Prosper Ametepe is an officer also stationed at Keta. 

The identity of their Nigerian accomplice is however not known yet.

The three are currently being held in police custody at the regional headquarters for interrogation.

 

Investigations 

When the Daily-Graphic contacted the regional crime officer, Chief Superintendent Kofi Abraham, he confirmed the issue but could not give any detail because he said investigations had just begun. 

He however gave assurance that the media would be briefed on the matter at the appropriate time.
