Mensah and Quaye were charged for conspiracy and murder, but their pleas were not taken.

They were remanded in police custody by the court, presided over by Ms Arit Nsemoh, while a bench warrant was issued for the arrest of one Laryea, another suspect.

Presenting the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Gregory Yeboah said that on March 5, 2016 at 6.00 p.m., Enusa went to a big gutter at Kporkpa to attend to nature’s call.

The prosecutor said while Enusa was there, Mensah, Quaye and Laryea, who is at large, spotted him.

Mr Yeboah said without provocation, the three pounced on Enusa with sticks and stones and subjected him to severe beatings till he fell unconscious.

Mr Yeboah said Enusa was later rushed to the 37 Military Hospital by some eyewitnesses in the case but Enusa passed away a week later so the police were notified.

According to Mr Yeboah the three then went into hiding.

Mr Yeboah said Mensah was arrested by the Neighbourhood Watch Committee at his hideout in Teshie while Quaye was also nabbed upon a tip-off in Tema New Town.

The prosecutor said Mensah and Quaye admitted the offence in their caution statement.
