Two senior police officers promoted commissioners
Two senior police officers have been promoted to the rank of Commissioners of Police (COP).

The promotion of Mr Ransford Ninson and Mrs Beatrice Vib-Sanziri to the rank of Commissioner of Police (COP) took effect from August 1, 2016.
A statement issued in Accra by the Police Service said President John Mahama promoted the two officers upon the recommendations of the Police Council.
COP Ninson is currently the Director-General Administration while COP Vib-Sanziri is the Director-General Human Resource Development.
Female commissioners
The statement said with the promotion of COP Vib-Sanziri, she becomes the second serving female Commissioner of Police, after COP Rose Bio Atinga.
“However, COP/Mrs Beatrice Vib-Sanziri becomes the fifth-ever Woman Commissioner of Police in the history of the Ghana Police Service, after COP/Mrs Christine Jane Donkor (retd), COP/Mrs Aning-Botwe (retd), COP/Mrs Joana Osei-Poku (retd) and COP/Mrs Rose Bio Atinga.
The statement said the Ghana Police Service had in the past also seen the appointment of a female acting Inspector-General of Police in the person of Mrs Elizabeth Robertson.

The statement said the Volta Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vincent Redeemer Dedjoe, had also been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police with effect from August 1, 2016.
