UEW, Advanced Business College sign MoU
The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) and the Advanced Business College (ABC) in Accra, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and co-operation to deepen the academic relationship between the two institutions.

The UEW has also renewed the affiliation status of the ABC, a private tertiary institution that offers business-related courses and Information Communications Technology programmes, after the latter satisfied all the conditions and dictates of the UEW, since it accepted it as an affiliate institution in 2008.
Terms of MoU
The Vice-Chancellor of the UEW, Prof. Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, and the Registrar, Dr Christopher Y. Akwaa-Mensah, signed on behalf of the university, while Mr Ebenezer K. Ampiah and Mrs Petrina E. Ampiah, President and Vice President respectively signed on behalf of the ABC.
Under the MoU, the ABC would be required to submit an annual self-evaluation statement spelling out clearly how it had duly conformed to the policies of the UEW.
The college shall also be required to notify the UEW about the number of students it wishes to admit into every accredited programme each academic year.
The UEW shall also have the right to nominate an academic staff to serve on the board of the ABC.
The college also has the right to make changes in its programmes as and when it deems it fit and duly communicate it to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) and the UEW.
Commendation
In a short address, Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw lauded the ABC for its innovative programmes, saying that they met the higher standards the UEW had set for itself.
He also cautioned other institutions affiliated to the UEW not to see the renewal of their affiliation status as a normal process but an opportunity to improve upon their activities and operations to improve on the educational standards in the country.
ABC preparedness
For his part, Mr Ampiah stated that the college was prepared to work with the UEW as it geared towards becoming an autonomous institution in the not-too-distant future.
He assured the university that management of the college had put in place the necessary steps towards strengthening the ties between the two institutions.
