Vetting of Ministers suspended for 5-minutes amid controversy

The Parliamentary Appointments Committee abruptly suspended the vetting proceedings following a dispute between the minority and majority sides of the committee.

After prayers and an opening statement from Chairman Bernard Ahiafo, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin raised a concern about the lack of an executive secretary to oversee the announcement of nominated appointees, as required by the constitution.

This sparked a series of disagreements, prompting the chairman to pause the meeting for 5 minutes to allow for discussions among the members.

The suspension was announced after a prolonged period of heated exchanges between the members, which disrupted the proceedings.

"I suspend the sitting for five minutes," Chairman Ahiafor said, as tensions escalated in the room.

The session has now resumed, but the controversy persists as the Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, waits for nearly two hours to be vetted.
