Workshop discusses child protection

A five-day workshop to educate women traditional leaders, teachers and the youth on the need to create a safe environment for the well-being of the girl-child has opened in Accra.

The workshop, organised by the Institute of Research, Advocacy and Training (INSTRAT), with sponsorship from UNICEF, brought together over 50 participants and it was on the theme, “Child Protection, Education, Health and Sanitation”.

Child well-being

In her welcome address, the Director of INSTRAT, Professor Irene Odotei, said the well-being of children was very critical to the growth of a nation.

She said a nation which did not concentrate on the growth and the well-being of its children and youth would face challenges in the future because the children would grow up to become irresponsible adults.
