He urged the public to support the Heal KATH Project, emphasizing its importance as a worthy cause.

Prof. Agyare made this appeal while presenting cheques totaling GH₵125,000.00 to support the Heal KATH Project. On behalf of KNUST and the College of Health Sciences, he presented cheques for GH₵100,000.00 and GH₵15,000.00, respectively.

Additionally, Prof. Agyare made a personal donation of GH₵10,000.00 to the project, which was launched last year to raise $10 million for the renovation of the old blocks at KATH.

He highlighted that the hospital has been training students from the college for the past 50 years, making it appropriate for the university to support the hospital. This support ensures that the facility continues to provide a high-quality training ground for students.

In addition to the financial contribution, Prof. Agyare noted that the university has provided technical expertise for the project design and the acquisition of equipment for the hospital. He reiterated his call for widespread support, reminding the public that anyone could potentially become a patient at the facility.

Appreciation

The chairman of the Heal KATH Project, Samuel Adu-Boakye, expressed gratitude to KNUST for its support, noting that it would significantly contribute to the project's success.

He explained that the project is a partnership between the hospital, Manhyia, and the project committee, aimed at giving KATH a facelift befitting its status as a tertiary health facility.

Initially planned to be completed within 24 months, the project timeline may extend to 36 months due to challenges with space. The ongoing hospital operations have affected the renovation speed. However, Adu-Boakye remains hopeful that the project will be completed on time, benefiting the residents of Kumasi with an improved facility.

Adu-Boakye also highlighted that the project sources most materials locally, only importing items that are unavailable in the local market. He assured the public that funds raised would be judiciously spent, primarily on local goods and services. Only essential items that cannot be sourced locally will be imported.
