Already most of the delegates are in the garden city for what has been described as one of the most keenly contested National Youth Organiser elections of the party in recent times.

Those contesting for the two Deputy Youth Organiser positions are Imoro Musah Saani, Mustapha Ahmed,  Baron Courage Kwabena, Abigail E. A. Mensah, Fuseini Seidu Iddrisu, Prince Morti,   William Wilson Agbleke.

Youth and Women

Unlike other political parties, the NDC elects the leaders of its youth and women’s wing at both regional and national levels at different forums from the elections of both the regional and national executives.

The women’s wing elections will be held concurrently with that of the youth on the same Saturday in Wa in the Upper West Region.

The Kumasi election is on the theme: “Rekindling the Spirit of voluntarism and Youth Activism for Victory 2016.”

Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission (EC) has finished printing the ballot papers and is ready to conduct the elections on Saturday.

Briefing the media in Kumasi, the incumbent National Youth Organiser, Mr Ludwig Hlodze, urged delegates and other supporters who would be around to ensure that the elections were held in the spirit of unity and brotherliness.

The occasion, he said, would be used to honour deserving former national youth organisers of the party and other members who had helped the cause of the youth in the party.

Mr E. T. Mensah, one of the early national youth organisers of the party, will be the main speaker at the forum.

In an earlier interview with the Daily Graphic, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr Raymond Tandoh, said the party had concluded discussions with the regional security council and that 300 plain-clothed and uniformed police personnel and 150 military men would be in charge of security at the venue.
