The Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Gyapong Kudjoe, has called on the party’s leadership to accord the region the attention it deserves.

He said over the years, the region had proven to be the determinant of the party’s victory in general elections, hence, it was prudent the leadership continued to make the party attractive to the people of the region.

Mr Kudjoe said votes from the Volta Region remained the hope that usually rescued the party in elections.

“In 2008 elections, when we needed a region to salvage the party, people in Accra were hiding beneath their beds until they started declaring votes from the Volta Region; then we won the elections.’’

He stressed that although the party won with eight regions, votes from seven regions could not perform the needed magic until Volta Region decided the outcome of the election.

The regional chairman said it was, however, crucial to take note of the roles played by the region by constantly providing  it with the requisite facilities that would improve the lives of the people and encourage them to remain steadfast in the party.

He was speaking at a youth empowering workshop held in the Ho West Constituency.

He, therefore, charged the youth of the party to make the party attractive to the youth all over the country.

In an interview with Citi FM, Accra, the constituency Youth Organiser, Kafui Shaka Kwawu, said the workshop was necessary to energise the youth to ensure higher voter turnouts in the 2016 elections.
