Akufo-Addo denies claims of attempt to postpone NPP primaries

The Office of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that he is seeking to overturn the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) decision to hold early primaries or to postpone the upcoming National Delegates Conference scheduled for 19 July.

In a statement issued on Monday, the former president’s office described the claims as completely false and misleading.

It clarified that President Akufo-Addo, who is currently outside the country, has not submitted any petition or request, either formally or informally, to the party regarding a change to the planned date for the conference or the primary schedule.

“Clearly, those behind these publications have an agenda of their own, which has nothing to do with the fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” the statement read.
