Akufo-Addo forced to address enthusiastic gathering

The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was literally held hostage by residents of Kumasi when they blocked the road and forced his convoy to stop in order for him to address them before leaving.

From Abuakwa all the way to the Sofoline Interchange, residents had massed up on the road and used tables and chairs to block the road, while some used themselves as barricade.

The team, which got to the area after 8p.m., was forced to slow down and the flag bearer had to stand in the vehicle to acknowledge the people.

Not even the power outage at the time could deter them from trying to catch a glimpse of the presidential candidate of the NPP.

The team experienced a similar event when it toured the Ahofa Ano South, East, West and North constituencies.

Arise for change

Nana Akufo-Addo is currently on a five-day tour, dubbed 'Arise for Change,' in the region.

The team visited, Adugyaman and Sabronu, both in the Ahafo Ano South East Constituency, Tepa in the Ahafo Ano North Constituency and Mpassaso 1 and 2, Kunsu and Mankraso, all in the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency.

Message

Nana Akufo- Addo called on the people of the region and Ghanaians in general to turn out in their numbers on Election Day to vote for the NPP so as to bring an end to the current economic hardship facing the country.

He said the government was unable to solve the challenges facing the country and so must be changed.

He cited the lack of jobs in the system, the economic hardships and collapse of the agriculture sector as some of the challenges facing the country.

According to him, the NPP had the track record and the ability to turn the economy of the country around when given the chance.

He cited the tremendous economic and infrastructure achievements by former President Kufuor and mentioned that the second coming of the NPP would be an improvement on the previous one.

Nana Akufo-Addo said even though the National Democratic Congress kept rubbishing policies and programmes of the NPP as not being feasible, it always turned around to implement them, albeit with challenges.

He cited the free SHS policy as one case.

He urged the people to vote for the NPP to so that it would implement some of the good plans it had in order to alleviate their plight.
