Bourkrom-Estate assembly member seeks re-election
The incumbent assembly member for the Bourkrom-Estate Electoral Area in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Ms Margaret Barwua, is seeking re-election.

According to her, she was determined to continue with her pragmatic development programmes lined up to improve the living standards of the people in her area
Ms Barwua, popularly known as "Obaa Ataa", told this reporter that when given the opportunity, she would complete the ongoing projects she had already embarked upon.
They include the rehabilitation of the Estate roads, the construction of a junior high school (JHS) and provision of street lights in communities in her electoral area.
Ms Barwa is contesting with two other gentlemen, Mr Samuel Osei Tutu and Mr Kwaku Boamah, who are both educationists.
She said through her influence, rehabilitation of roads at Estates, one of her communities had started in ernest.
The retired midwife disclosed that her four-year term saw a significant improvement in the electoral area.
She said the KMA provided her with 20 street-light bulbs but she procured 80 additional bulbs to supply to some of the communities.
Ms Barwua commended some philanthropists and other concerned citizens who assisted in that direction.
She said she was able to put up a six-unit classroom block for the D/A Primary at the Estates and added that a permanent police station was under construction and was almost complete.
The assembly member said the police station was currently on rented premises.
She said she had been able to construct two boreholes, fitted with pumps, for the D/A Primary and South Africa, a suburb of the electoral area.
Ms Barwua disclosed that the distribution of water to communities before she took over was not encouraging but now water was flowing regularly.
