Bryan Acheampong sworn-in as Abetifi MP

The new Member of Parliament for the Abetifi Constituency, Bryan Acheampong has been sworn into office by the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Ajaho.

Mr Acheampong was elected in a by-election on Saturday after the Member of Parliament for the area Peter Wiafe Peprah passed away in May 2016.

He polled 14,015 votes representing 89.9 per cent to retain the seat for the New Patriotic Party in the by-election.

His opponents, Vida Konadu Ennin of the Independent People’s Party (IPP) had 469 votes representing 3.91 per cent, Kennedy Kotei Nikoi of the United Front Party (UFP) obtained 406 votes, representing 2.65 per cent with Edmund Nkansah of the Convention People’s Party getting 439 votes which represented 2.52 per cent.

The Speaker of Parliament after the swearing-in on Wednesday advised him to live up to the values of the House.
