At a rally at Awiebo as part of the inauguration of the Western Regional Campaign Task Force, and to kick-start the Ellembelle Constituency campaign, Mr Buah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, told the large crowd of party faithful and sympathisers that President Mahama was from the Nkrumaist stock and had been called to complete all the unfinished business of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana.

He recounted all the projects undertaken by Dr Nkrumah that had been revived by President Mahama such as the Komenda Sugar Factory, the Takoradi Port Expansion, the Kumasi Shoe Factory and the Western Railway Expansion as clear evidence of his commitment to the vision of the first president.

“The President is a true Nkrumaist and he is destined to lead the Western Region to the heights envisaged by Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah. Everywhere we go in this region, we see clear efforts by President Mahama to touch the lives of the hardworking people of the region,” he said.

The theme for the event was: "Celebration of the progress of Ellembelle Development Continues."

Promises

“I am telling you my people that President Mahama became President in order to see to the accomplishment of the uncompleted business of Osagyefo Nkrumah. You all know that the Western Region abounds in rich natural resources whose utilisation immensely supports our national development agenda.

“In recognition of this, President Mahama continues to work hard to provide the region with its share of infrastructure and social interventions which are touching and transforming the lives of our people,” he told the cheering NDC supporters and sympathisers

“Today marks the beginning of a process to cement the massive victory of President Mahama in the December 7 election. Anytime the Western Region votes for the NDC, we win the national election. We will continue to work hard to make the Western and Central regions the big support base of the NDC in the 2016 election and into the future,” Mr Buah said.

The Western Regional Campaign Task Force was inaugurated by the Vice-President, Mr Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

Food bank

Mr Buah also assured his constituents of a food bank if retained as MP in December 7, 2016.

He said such a facility would go a long way to help the less privileged in times of need.

Mr Buah made reference to his promise prior to his re-election in 2012 to build a facility to cater for the aged which he fulfilled when he established the AYA Community Centre (Elderly Care and Recreational Centre).

He said the food bank would be supported by churches, organisations, corporate bodies and individuals.
