Damango: EC district office on fire over election results collation disagreement
The district office of the Electoral Commission in Damango in the Savannah Region has been set on fire over disagreements about the collation of the 2024 Election results.
The Electoral Commission (EC) is in the process of collating the results for the constituency parliamentary and presidential elections, where the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, is the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP).

There are some disagreements between the agents for the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Adam Mutawakilu Garlus, and that of Mr Jinapor.
Jinapor snatched the seat from Adam Mutawakilu Garlus in the 2020 parliamentary election and Mutawakilu Garlus is in the race to get back the seat.
The disagreement between the agents are reportedly on whether or not the EC should proceed with the collation of the parliamentary election results first or whether they should start with that of the presidential.
The collation is the addition of the results from various polling stations in the constituency.
And this is what has reportedly degenerated into some youth setting the district office of the commission on fire.
Earlier, some reports had suggested that Mr Jinapor had lost the seat, while others suggested he had retained it.
