Election 2024: Bawumia clinches victory in Eastern Region

The Eastern Region of Ghana has once again delivered a win for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 presidential election.

According to the certified votes, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP candidate, received 493,234 votes, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Dramani Mahama, polled 453,234 votes.

The Regional Director of the EC, John Appiah, confirmed that Dr Bawumia secured 51.28 Pper cent of the votes, while Mahama earned 47.12 per cent. 

The Eastern Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission (EC) announced the certified results from 30 out of 33 constituencies, which have been transmitted to the EC headquarters in Accra.

Other candidates included Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar) of the New Force received 6,910 votes and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen of the Movement for Change, polled 1,851 votes.

The total valid votes amounted to 961,885, with 21,477 ballots rejected.

While agents from the NDC, CPP, and Nana Kwame Bediako signed the final results, NPP representatives were absent during the process.
