Election  2024: IEA to host first presidential debate on October 22 

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has released dates for a planned presidential and vice presidential debates ahead of the December 7 general elections.

According to the IEA, the first presidential debate will be held on October 22, with a follow-up one on November 19.

The vice presidential candidates one will be on November 5.

Apart from that the first of five evening encounters will begin on September 18.

In a statement dated September 12, the IEA reaffirmed its dedication to promoting democratic development in Ghana.

The institution emphasised the pivotal role these debates and encounters have played since they were first introduced in 2000, helping to shape Ghana’s democratic processes.

It said the debates provide a structured platform for presidential candidates to present their policies and visions to the electorate, fostering transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making.
