The assembly has, therefore, presented a motorbike, an HP desktop computer and accessories, as well as a printer, to the Akporman-Manna Police Post and the Atomic Hills Estate Police Station to help them in their work.

The items

The items, procured through the assembly's internally generated funds (IGFs), were in fulfilment of a promise made by the MCE during the inauguration of the stations.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr John Kwao Sackey, at the presentation ceremony, said the assembly was committed to assisting the security agencies to ensure that people went about their legitimate businesses without fear of any criminal activities.

He said festive occasions such as Christmas and the New Year were often associated with crime and other social vices “which present enormous challenges to the various security agencies to devise strategies to combat.

"The report we are getting is really good, that our men are really on the ground and working. We want to assure the people that the security of the municipality is in safe hands and so everybody should go about their normal activities without fear," he said.

Mr Sackey, who is also the Chairman of the Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC), said the donation would augment service delivery by the stations and advised the officers to put the items to good use for the benefit of the people.

Community involvement

The Akporman-Manna Police Post was constructed by the North Legon Valley Residents Association, while the Atomic Hills Estate Police Station was constructed by the Ashongman Estate Local Council of Churches, with the Presbyterian Church providing the land.

The MCE praised the stakeholders for their exhibition of vision and patriotism towards the construction of the security installations.

Appreciation

The Abokobi District Police Commander, ASP Augustina Enti, who received the motorbike on behalf of the Akporman-Manna Police Post, expressed gratitude to the assembly and said the motorbike would go a long way to help them in their effort to fight crime in the area.

The Kwabenya District Police Commander, Superintendent Victoria Yamoah, received the items on behalf of the Atomic Hills Police Station.

She thanked the assembly for the support and asked for more to enhance their work.
