Be guided by honesty, integrity as you go to polls - Wa Bishop tells Ghanaians
The Catholic Bishop of Wa, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, Missionaries of Africa, has called on the electorate to let their conscience guide them in the election of the country’s leaders on December 7, 2024.
He said it was time Ghanaians voted for honesty and integrity, as those would be the values that would take the country from the current doldrums.

“Without honesty and integrity, it will be difficult to build the country,” he remarked.
Most Rev. Bomansaan made the call last Sunday, December 1, 2024, when he delivered the homily at the Wa Diocesan branch of the Catholic Organisation for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA) Silver Jubilee Thanksgiving Mass at the St Andrew’s Cathedral in Wa.
Advent
He urged Ghanaians to use the season of Advent to reflect on the upcoming general elections and let their conscience guide them in the selection of their candidates.
Most Rev. Bomansaan called on the Ghanaian electorate not to allow their parochial interest to be the only guiding principle for voting for a particular candidate or political party but to think of the interest of the general public.
“If you take money from a politician to vote for him, then you don’t have the right to complain when he also ignores you after winning,” he said.
He urged the electorate to desist from allowing themselves to be bought by politicians with money to vote for them.

He warned that if that continued, nothing would change and the country would continue to wallow in poverty and lack of development, adding, “Integrity and honesty will always give us peace and justice.”
Commendation
He commended the members of COSRA for their dedication and commitment over the last 25 years in the diocese.
He said the group had supported the church in the diocese since its inception and continued to mould the youth and its members along the Christian way.
The Diocesan President of COSRA, Gilbert Akugre, expressed his appreciation to the hierarchy of the church for the support they have extended to the society over the last 25 years.
