Background
The EC has scheduled the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency parliamentary election for Tuesday, December 30, 2025. This follows a ruling by the Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, which ordered the rerun to take place within 30 days.
The Commission also received formal notification from the Clerk to Parliament last Monday, December 8, 2025, confirming that the parliamentary seat for Kpandai has officially become vacant.
A statement issued in Accra last Wednesday, signed by the Deputy Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department at the EC, Fred Tetteh, said the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency parliamentary election would be conducted for only the three candidates who contested the 2024 parliamentary election in the constituency.
They are Matthew Nyindam of the NPP, Daniel Nsala Wakpal of the NDC and Donkor Eric Nipani of the All People’s Congress (APC).
Interview
In spite of the court processes filed by the former MP for Kpandai, Mr Nyindam, yet to be exhausted, the governing NDC has stated its preparedness for the rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election.
An earlier interview with the NDC’s acting Director of Elections and IT, Tanko Rashid-Computer, said the party was prepared for the upcoming rerun parliamentary election in Kpandai.
He added, “The NDC is going to win massively come December 30.”

However, the former MP for Kpandai, Mr Nyindam, in an interview, expressed confidence in his support base and vowed to contest the rerun.
“I am not worried. I am waiting for the 30th. The people of Kpandai who voted for me in the 2024 election believe that I can represent them,” he said.
He accused the NDC of orchestrating the upcoming rerun, insisting that the 2024 election was conducted fairly.
