NCCE calls on Kadjebi District Assembly for support

The Kadjebi District Assembly has pledged to give its support to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to enhance its constitutional duties in the district.

The Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE), Dr Samuel Issaka Suraj, made the pledge when officials of the NCCE called on him to solicit their support.

Dr Suraj commended the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) for its efforts over the years to instil civic responsibility among citizens through various initiatives, including the establishment of civic education clubs in schools and the celebration of Citizens’ Week.

The Director of the NCCE, Daniel Agbesi Latsu, said the support from the Kadjebi District Assembly would enable them to carry out activities they had lined up to mark the 2026 Constitution Week celebrations.

Mr Latsu said the visit was to solicit the assembly’s support to enable them to execute their mandate for the year. He commended the German Development Corporation (GIZ) and the European Union (EU) for their support, which enabled the NCCE to sensitise the citizens towards the peaceful general election in 2024.

He said this year, the commission would continue to sensitise students and other identifiable groups to the 2026 Constitution Week celebrations, while promoting civic education clubs, the rule of law, good governance, responsible citizenship and the fight against corruption.

He affirmed the NCCE readiness to promote civic education of citizens if  supported.

He, therefore, appealed to the assembly to give the commission the necessary assistance to enable it to perform its constitutional duties.
