NDC extends branch nomination deadline to May 25
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended the deadline for the sale and submission of nomination forms for its ongoing branch executive elections to Monday, May 25, 2026.
The party said the decision followed a further review of the ongoing branch elections process by its Functional Executive Committee (FEC).
A statement signed and issued last Thursday by the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Finance and Administration, Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, said all nomination forms purchased on the party’s online platform — forms.ghanandc.com — must be fully completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on the new deadline date.
It warned that all purchased codes or forms not used for filing and submission before the deadline would become invalid, adding that the fees paid would not be refunded.
Registers
The statement further directed all constituency executives to make party registers available to prospective aspirants and party members who wished to verify or confirm their membership status.
According to the party, the move forms part of efforts to ensure fairness and transparency in the electoral process.
“The party expects all constituency executives to ensure fairness, transparency, accessibility and cooperation throughout the process to guarantee a smooth and credible Branch election exercise nationwide,” the statement said.
Participation
The NDC also urged members to actively participate in the internal democratic process and uphold the values of unity, fairness, discipline and comradeship during the elections.
The branch elections form part of a nationwide reorganisation exercise by the party aimed at electing executives from the branch level to the national level.
Background
Earlier this year, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced a roadmap for the party’s internal elections, beginning with branch executive elections and progressing through constituency, regional and national executive elections.
The roadmap, according to the party leadership, is intended to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and reorganise its machinery ahead of future political activities and national elections.
Under the roadmap, branch elections are expected to elect grassroots-level executives who will subsequently form part of the electoral college for higher-level internal elections within the party structure.
The NDC leadership has repeatedly stressed the need for transparent, peaceful and credible elections throughout the process to preserve party unity and deepen internal democracy.
