The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled planned maintenance exercises in the Accra East and Accra West Regions for Monday, May 18, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid.
According to advisories issued by the power distributor, the outages will commence at 9:00 am in both regions, with each exercise lasting eight hours until 5:00 pm.
In the Accra East Region, the planned maintenance will affect ECG Village, Police City, Ashiye Fulani, Regimanuel Estate, East Legon, parts of Bawaleshie, Abotsiman, and surrounding areas. The affected zone includes some of Accra's most prominent residential and commercial neighbourhoods, including East Legon and the Regimanuel Estate.
In the Accra West Region, the planned maintenance will affect South McCarthy, Mallam Junction, Caitec Tower, Agape, C.P., Maame Nkran, and surrounding areas. The outage will impact the Mallam Junction area, a major transportation hub, as well as residential and commercial properties in South McCarthy.
In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.
The company reassured the public that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
